When drawings reflect something deeper than just black lines on paper.

Every time I come across some sketch or painting art, I found myself staring at it for hours. Some of them always made me push my paddle of thinking, to find the thoughts behind the art, what the artist is trying to show us through it. It’s quite fun for me, I always felt like a detective who is trying to solve a mystery behind that art. It also helped me to widen my perspective and to see things from a different angle.
Drawing anime characters, cartoons, and portraits are fun but real challenge and excitement come while drawing something abstract, something that pushes your thinking limits or broadens the perspective. The best part about these artworks is that what it shows you, it depends on what you want to see in it. These act as mirrors reflecting your thinking, thoughts, and perspective through them. With the same motto, I started to draw something that will give something to think about or allow you to see it from a different perspective. The viewer can find their meaning in the drawing and can relate it to their own experiences. A drawing becomes more beautiful when we understand the thoughts behind it the artist tried to show, a deeper message than those simple black lines on it.

So, what do you think about it? What’s your first thought after you take a good look around it? Few of you might have thought that, is it complete or incomplete? At first, it looks like an incomplete with a persona missing from the candlelight dinner setup. But what if I tell you that it is a complete one. If you still think it’s incomplete then you should read ahead, I hope the answer will surprise you. Those who were thinking it’s complete, I guess you guys are thinking in the right direction and on the way to solving the mystery, but also it might be different from what I want to show through it. But that’s great things we’ll come to know about a different perspective of the same thing.

After reading the below line from Lisa Unger, the above drawing will be complete for those who thought it was incomplete at first.

“When you start to really know someone, all his physical characteristics start to disappear. You begin to dwell in his energy, recognize the scent of his skin. You see only the essence of the person, not the shell. That’s why you can’t fall in love with beauty. You can lust after it, be infatuated by it, want to own it. You can love it with your eyes and body but not your heart. And that’s why, when you really connect with a person’s inner self, any physical imperfections disappear, become irrelevant. “— Lisa Unger

Now after reading the above quote if you again look at it, I hope you might able to see the completeness into incompleteness. I think that’s the beauty of the void in our hearts. I tried to capture the most important essence of those lines, that we fall for the person’s soul and their energy and not for the outer shell. It’s quite difficult to put the vibe/energy on paper with physical characteristics like two eyes, ears, a nose, a mouth, and some hairs as vibe can’t be seen, and you can only feel it. I think that’s why one of the greatest poets said

“Close your eyes, fall in love, stay there” — Rumi

Because there are lots of shells roaming around you, with similar physical characteristics but the uniqueness lies in the energy of the soul which can only be felt by your energy and which cannot be seen through eyes. But this doesn’t mean you cannot see it, if you are a good observer, you can see it through a smile, laughter, way of talking, and body language, it will radiate those vibes.

Since we are talking about energy, it’s uncertain how long it is going to be around. So the best way is to live every moment, as we are not meant to hold onto it. We can try to guard such energy but we can’t force it. Since it was never about the physical, it’s beyond our visual senses and we can only feel it in our own energy.

So when you are with someone, always pay attention to how you feel. If you feel heavy, guarded, sad, or uncomfortable, that’s your subconscious telling you that you probably should not spend much time with that person. On the flip side, if you feel happy, light, comfortable, and safe, it is a sign that the person is probably a great fit for you. Always pay attention to how you feel. Your energy doesn’t lie.
